綱：細胞体は主に monokinetidsで、細胞の前後端に収束する transverse ribbonがある。 kinetodesmal fibrilは横方向に伸びるが，隣接するfibrilとは重ならない。 oral cilia は通常単純。

亜綱：Oral toxicystsをもつ （ oral dikinetidsの transverse microtubulesの間にある）。 oral ciliaは oral cavityにはなく、口部域の淵にある。 alveoliはあまり発達していない。tela corticalis をもつものが多い。 Rhabdosをもつ。　

アンフィレプツス目 　側口類 　Pleurostomatida	細胞は、横方向からおしつぶされた形。 口部は前端部近くに位置する。
アクチノボリナ目 　咽頭類 　Pharyngophorida	細胞咽頭は常に存在する。 oral dikinetidsのtransverse microtubular ribbonsとともに細胞内部に達する。
シオカメウズムシ目 　毒胞類 　Haptorida	微小管でもりあがった oral domeをもつ。 その内部に毒胞がある。
