綱：葉状仮足をつくる。軸糸はない。
亜綱：殻をつくらない。狭義のアメーバ類。
目：多くは単核。ミトコンドリアがある。 鞭毛をもたない。
　　核分裂は mesomitotic。有性生殖は知られていない。

亜目：移動時の細胞は円筒状で，分岐する種としない種がいる。 仮足は顆粒を含み，先端部には透明冠がみられる。 通常，核は１個だが，まれに多核のものもいる。核分裂は mesomitotic。 from 「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」

アメーバ科
Amoebidae 		仮足は分岐し，顆粒を含む。 ただし，その先端部は透明で半球状。
エントアメーバ科
Entamoebidae 		仮足はめったに分岐しない。 半円形の透明な仮足が突発的に生じる。
多くは寄生ないし共生。
ハルトマネラ科
Hartmannellidae 		Monopodial。 仮足はめったに形成されない。 先端部にふくらみがやや突発的に形成されながら移動する。 原形質流動は連続して起こる。
