綱：葉状仮足をつくる。軸糸はない。
亜綱：殻をつくらない。狭義のアメーバ類。
目：多くは単核。ミトコンドリアがある。 鞭毛をもたない。
　　核分裂は mesomitotic。有性生殖は知られていない。
亜目：移動時の細胞は円筒状で，分岐する種としない種がいる。 仮足は顆粒を含み，先端部には透明冠がみられる。 通常，核は１個だが，まれに多核のものもいる。核分裂は mesomitotic。

科：仮足は分岐し，顆粒を含む。 ただし，その先端部は透明で半球状。 from 「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」

属： 細胞質には液胞が非常にたくさんある。
背中側にはしわがある。 先端部には常に透明冠がある。後端部は狭まる。
移動時の長さは60-275μm，L/B 1.4 - 10.5。
