亜目：移動時の細胞は円筒状で，分岐する種としない種がいる。仮足は顆粒を含み，先端部には透明冠がみられる。 通常，核は１個だが，まれに多核のものもいる。核分裂は mesomitotic。
科：Monopodial。仮足はめったに形成されない。 先端部にふくらみがやや突発的に形成されながら移動する。 原形質流動は連続して起こる。 from 「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」

属：移動時に通常は hyaline capがない。
移動の際，uroidal bulbは桑の実状, not villous（柔毛状）。
ときおり脇から仮足が分岐することもある。核分裂は mesomitotic。シストは知られていない。

C. limacoides 長さ 7.5〜25.5μｍ。 前方がやや幅広い（mean L/B 3.3）。後端部には小さな bulbがある。 核は 2.8〜4.1μｍ。 C. angelica 長さ 50〜100μｍ。 早く移動する際には細長くなる。半月状の hyaline capが見られる。 桑の実状のウロイドあり。 核は 5〜6μｍ。
