綱：細胞体は主に monokinetidsで、放射状の transverse ribbonがある。 細胞口は前端部ないしその近傍にある。 （「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」より）
繊毛は房状ないし帯状に配列することが多い。 毒胞をもたないものもあるが、毒胞をもつものは口域、吻部、触手内にある。 大型の細胞が多い。肉食性。

目：細胞口は前端部、ないしその近傍にある。 細胞口?の周囲にbrosse of kinetidsがある。 突出体として、extraoral toxicystsをもつ。

プラギオカンパ科 　Plagiocampidae	Oral dikinetidsは半円形に並ぶ。 伸縮性のある palp (or lappet) が背中側にあり， そこにtoxicystsがある。
Balanionidae科	Oral dikinetidsは卵形ないし円形。Body ciliaは前方が密。 Body ciliaは先端部に girdle状 に並ぶのみ。
ウロトリカ科	Oral dikinetidsは卵形ないし円形。Body ciliaは前方が密。 Body ciliaは後端部の1/4-1/5以外には均等に分布。
Placidae科	Oral dikinetidsは卵形ないし円形。Body ciliaは細胞全体。 Body kinetiesはややラセン状に並ぶ。
コレプス科 　Colepidae	Oral dikinetidsは卵形ないし円形。Body ciliaは細胞全体。 Brosse as 3 short inconspicuous rows of dikinetids. cortexに炭酸カルシウムのplatesをもつ。 トゲをもつ場合が多い。
プロロドン科 　Prorodontidae	Oral dikinetidsは卵形ないし円形。Body ciliaは細胞全体。 Brosseは明瞭。
