綱：細胞体は主に monokinetidsで、放射状の transverse ribbonがある。 細胞口は前端部ないしその近傍にある。 （「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」より）
繊毛は房状ないし帯状に配列することが多い。 毒胞をもたないものもあるが、毒胞をもつものは口域、吻部、触手内にある。 大型の細胞が多い。肉食性。

目：細胞口は前端部、ないしその近傍にある。 細胞口?の周囲にbrosse of kinetidsがある。 突出体として、extraoral toxicystsをもつ。

科：Oral dikinetidsは卵形ないし円形。Body ciliaは前方が密。
Body ciliaは後端部の1/4-1/5以外には均等に分布。
