かつては Coleps属に含められていた。 Coleps属との違いは、Coleps属の brosse filesの向きが 細胞の繊毛列に対して直角なのに対して、Nolandia属は、平行である点にある。また、Coleps属の kinetiesは dikinetids であるのに対して、Nolandia属では monokinetidsである。
