綱：細胞の全周囲に放射状に 有軸仮足をだす。 この仮足は顆粒を含み、しばしば吻合する。 有軸仮足以外に、糸状仮足や一時的に葉状仮足を形成するものもいる。 突出体（放出体, extrusome）として， キネトシスト（kinetocyst, conicyst） をもつ。大部分は淡水性。

目：軸足の形成部位（MTOC= microtubule organizing center; axoplast）は細胞の中心にある。 柄をもつものもいる。細胞体の表面は珪質ないし有機質の 棘（ないし突起；Acanthocystisなど） or scales（Raphidiophrysなど）で被われている。

Hedraiophrys属	短い柄があり，固着性。海産。
Cienkovskyia属	長い柄があり，固着性。海産。柄は粘液質の物質のみからなる。
Actinolophus属	長い柄があり，固着性。海産。柄には細胞質がある。 Bud-like base。
Actinocoryne属	長い柄があり，固着性。海産。柄には細胞質がある。 Lobate-base。柄には収縮性がある。
Wagnerella属	長い柄があり，固着性。海産。柄には細胞質がある。 細胞の被いには２種類の棘がある。
オキシネレラ属 　Oxnerella	柄はない。自由遊泳。棘はない。粘液質の被いもない。核は１個。
クラミダスター属 　Chlamydaster	柄はない。自由遊泳。棘はない。厚い被いをもつ。核は１個。
Gymnosphaera属	柄はない。自由遊泳。棘はない。粘液質の薄い被いをもつ。多核。
アカントキスチス属 　Acanthocystis	柄はない。自由遊泳。skeletonがある。棘で被われている。
Dimorpha属	？？？
Heterophrys属	柄はない。自由遊泳。skeletonがある。 有機質の棘をもつ。
ラフィディオキスチス属 　Raphidiocystis	柄はない。自由遊泳。skeletonがある。 棘は管状やカップ状などで，長さも不揃い。
ラフィディオフリス属 　Raphidiophrys	柄はない。自由遊泳。skeletonがある。 ゼラチン状の物質で被われていて，そこに紡錘形の棘が規則的に付着している。
スファエラストラム属 　Sphaerastrum	細胞体および軸足の大部分はゼラチン状の mantleで被われている。
