ファコディニウム属　Phacodinium

綱： 周口域（adoral zone）がよく発達する（＝独特の周口小膜域 （adoral zone of membranelle, AZM）をもつ）。 そこには外部へ伸び出した口部器官や囲口部器官があることが多い。
繊毛は細胞全体に一様にある。 右側には１本または数本の側口繊毛系（paroral ciliature）がある。繊毛系が減少しているものもある。減少した ものの場合は、棘毛となっている。
細胞口は、口腔または漏斗の底にある。 細胞肛門をもたないものが多い。シストを形成する。
ロリカをもつグループもある。大形の種が多く、自由生活をする。

目：細胞は卵型で、横から押しつぶされた形。 body kinetiesは、線状で疎ら。六角形にまとまった polykinetidsからなる。 土壌中に生息する。 （「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」より）
