綱： monokinetids が普通。各々には、a lateral kinetodesmal fibril, a reduced ( or absent ) transverse microtubular ribbon, そして postciliary ribbonが付属する。口部には放射状に 配列した microtubular ribbons（phyllae）がある。
亜綱＆目： 栄養体（trophont）は自由遊泳。 繊毛は主に腹側にある。口部域にはphyllae と棒状の nematodesmataがある。 細胞咽頭 にacmocystsと呼ばれる 突出体（extrusomes）をもつものがいる。
栄養体（trophont）の繊毛は明瞭で，腹側全体を被う。口部域は通常，preoral sutureの後ろにある。 1本以上は背中側にも kinetal fragmentがある。
亜目：口部繊毛はいくつかの peri-, circum-, or preoral kineties。 大核は球状ないし卵状。 heteromerous。 上下方向に平ら。 thigmotacticに腹側の繊毛で物に付着する。 ただし，特別な接着器官はない。

科：ロリカはない。繊毛は主に腹側にあるが，例外的に小さなものが背中側先端部にある。
腹部右側にある繊毛列は，口部前方に弓状に配列するが，それらは後部の繊毛列とつながっていない。
