原始異毛目　Protoheterotrichida

綱：細胞の外形は細長く、平らなものが多い。伸縮性があり触刺激に敏感に反応する。 繊毛は細胞表面全体に一様にある。口域は前端部か腹面にある。kinetidsは重複した postciliary ribbonsか、 spirotrichの dikinetidsに似た postciliary fibrilsからなる。
大核は２個かそれ以上あるが、各々は 2n （もしくはそれ以上）のDNA量を含む。Protocruzia属を 除いて他は、細胞分裂ごとに分裂した小核の一部が大核に分化する。 小核の分裂は eumitosisである。 例外は、Protocruzia属で、この属では多数の 2n の大核が有糸分裂する。
細胞表面には毒胞が散在する。背域にミューラー嚢（Muller's vesicle）をもつものがいる。肉食性のものが多い。

目：繊毛は細長い細胞全体にある。細胞口は特有の形態をもつ。細胞は非常に収縮性に富んでいる。 海洋性。あるいは、海岸の黒砂ないし砂利中に生息する。
１科のみ。

ゲレイア科 　Geleiidae	目と同じ。
アベリア属 　Avelia	細胞口は小さなスリット状でmonokinetidsで取り囲まれている。
ゲレイア属 　Geleia	細胞口は長いスリット状。右側には monokinetidsの fileで仕切られている。
