綱：葉状仮足をつくる。軸糸はない。一時期鞭毛をもつものもあるが、子実体はつくらない。
亜綱：細胞外に厚く丈夫な殻（shell, test, tectum）もしくは石英や 珪藻の殻などの付着物をまぜた 複合的な膜を形成する。葉状仮足をもち、殻と内部の細胞膜との間には隙間がある。 糸状仮足とまぎらわしい仮足をもつものも多い。
目：殻の開口は１個のみ。
亜目：殻はキチン質。pliable or 硬い。scale or palteはない。固形物に付着。仮足は指状（digitate）。

科：Testは柔らかいかやや硬め。 pseudostomeは腹側にあり明瞭。形は様々。

アンフィゾネラ属 　Amphizonella	殻はゲル状，内側に窪んだ場所にpseudostomeがある
ゾノミクサ属 　Zonomyxa	殻はゲル状，pseudostomeはスリット状
ディプロクラミス属 　Dplochlamys	殻は半球形，pseudostome は腹側にあり柔らかく広い
ミクロコリシア属 　Microcorycia	殻は半球状で上部は硬いが，下部は柔らかくスカート状， pseudostomeははっきりした形状をもたない
ミクロクラミス属 　Microchlamys	殻は半球状で上部は硬いが，下部は柔らかい， pseudostomeは腹側中心部にある
ペナルドクラミス属 　Penardochlamys	殻は球形ないし卵形で，周囲は波打っている，pseudostomeは腹側にある (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
パルムリナ属 　Parmulina	殻は縦方向につぶれた形をしている，半円形にみえる， 腹側にある pseudostomeはスリット状，周囲のゴミを付着させている
