亜目：細胞は三角形に近い。仮足は突起状で透明。その先端部は丸みを帯びている。移動時の hyaline lobeは分岐しない。核分裂は通常 mesomitotic。
科：細胞は三角形ないしヘラ状。先端部の丸い細い仮足の長さはほぼ一定。paranuclear body がない。淡水と海水に棲息。 from 「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」

属：
以前は，マヨレラの一種とされていたが，近年別属とされた。
たしかにこのグループは，細胞質の透明感など形態的にはマヨレラに似ているが，亜仮足が著しく長くなるのが特徴。また，培養をすると，他のマヨレラ属の細胞は飢餓状態でもガラスやプラスチックのシャーレの底に強く接着するが，この仲間は摂食時にはある程度接着するものの，通常は浮遊している場合が多い。
