綱：葉状仮足をつくる。軸糸はない。
亜綱：殻をつくらない。狭義のアメーバ類。
目： 多くは単核。ミトコンドリアがある。 鞭毛をもたない。 核分裂は mesomitotic。有性生殖は知られていない。
亜目： 細胞は扁平で幅広い，もしくは円盤状。周囲に透明帯がある。表層に目だった特徴はない。 locomotion of some gently eruptive（突発的に先端部ができる），核分裂は mesomitotic。

科： 移動時は扇形。 顆粒は細胞の後部に集まる。 前部の透明域から突起を出すものもいる。

属： 透明な先端部からでる亜仮足（subpseudopodia）はわずか。 透明な先端部が突発的に形成されることはない。 移動時の形も安定している。 from 「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」
