綱：葉状仮足をつくる。軸糸はない。
亜綱：殻をつくらない。狭義のアメーバ類。
目：多くは単核。ミトコンドリアがある。 鞭毛をもたない。
　　核分裂は mesomitotic。有性生殖は知られていない。
亜目：細胞の形は三角形から trapezoidal。仮足は透明で先端部は尖っている。幅広の lobeは透明で，移動時には ときどき分岐する。シストを形成する。核分裂は mesomitotic or metamitotic。

科：卵形ないし三角形の細胞。細い棘状の仮足を形成する。extranuclear centrosphereがある。 シストは多角形ないし convex。endocystは operculaを持ち polygonal to stellate。
