綱：細胞の全周囲に放射状に 有軸仮足をだす。 この仮足は顆粒を含み、しばしば吻合する。 有軸仮足以外に、糸状仮足や一時的に葉状仮足を形成するものもいる。 突出体（放出体, extrusome）として， キネトシスト（kinetocyst, conicyst） をもつ。大部分は淡水性。

目：細胞質内には明瞭な軸足の形成部位が見えない。

Lithocolla属	細胞の周囲には砂粒などが付着して細胞を被っている。
ラブディオフリス属 　Rabdiophrys	外被の成分は珪素質。 tangential scales (or pearls)と放射状の棘。
Pompholyxophrys属	外被の成分は珪素質。 透明な卵ないしパール状の構造で被われている。粘着性ないしゲル状の物質を含む。
Pinaciophora属	外被の成分は珪素質。 粘着性ないしゲル状の物質はない。 １個以上の孔の開いた scaleが１ないし２層被う。
Pinaciocystis属	外被の成分は珪素質。 粘着性ないしゲル状の物質はない。 scaleで被われるが孔は開いていない。
