綱：糸状の仮足をもつ。有軸仮足は形成しない。
目：細胞の周囲に殻や厚膜をつくる。明瞭な開口がある。有殻アメーバの一部。
亜目：殻は珪質の鱗片（scale）によって被われている。
科：鱗片（scale）は丸か elliptical。隣接し，薄く重なっている。

属：殻はおおよそ卵形。断面は丸ないし卵形。pseudostomeは末端部にある。 その周囲にある鱗片には歯状突起がある。
Group I: 殻の断面は丸い。pseudostomeの断面も丸い。

種：殻長70〜132μｍ，断面は長径40〜80μｍ，短径20〜40μｍ。
鱗片は楕円形で，長径12μｍ，短径9μｍ。
棘あり。長さは5〜35μｍ。 E. ciliataと同様，殻の脇からたくさんの短棘を出す。
pseudostomeは円形で，径18〜28μｍ。oral scaleは scalloped edgesをもつ。
