綱：糸状の仮足をもつ。有軸仮足は形成しない。
目：細胞の周囲に殻や厚膜をつくる。明瞭な開口がある。有殻アメーバの一部。
亜目：殻は珪質の鱗片（scale）によって被われている。
科：鱗片（scale）は丸か elliptical。隣接し，薄く重なっている。

属：殻はおおよそ卵形。断面は丸ないし卵形。pseudostomeは末端部にある。 その周囲にある鱗片には歯状突起がある。
Group I: 殻の断面は丸い。pseudostomeの断面も丸い。
種：殻長135〜165μｍ，径83〜85μｍ。 殻は卵形。
鱗片（body scales）は shield-shapedで前端部が突き出している。
棘なし。
pseudostomeは径35〜40μｍ。 pseudostome周辺の鱗片（oral scale）には歯状突起がある。 淡水性。
