綱：細胞口は前端部、ないしその近傍にある。細胞体の周囲にbrosse of kinetidsがある。 突出体として、extraoral toxicystsをもつ。
亜綱：自由遊泳種 (?)。 細胞口は前端部にある。口部域には brosse kinetidsも toxicystsもない。 body kinetiesは bipolar。
科：キチン質様物質からなるロリカをもつ。固着性。 body kinetiesはすべて bipoloar。paratenes (?)は明瞭。顕著な尾部繊毛（caudal cilia）をもつものがいる。

属： フラスコ型のロリカ内にいる。細胞の周囲にリング状の構造がある。 細胞口には長い繊毛が4列並ぶ。細胞体の繊毛は短い。大核は丸い。

V. ciliata	Body about 100 ｵm long (Kudo, 1966).
V. parvula	Ovoid; 25-30 ｵm long; cytostome surrounded by long cilia; a long caudal cilium; a macronucleus central; lorica vase-shaped with neck (Carey, 1992).
