綱：
目：口部の縦軸方向に沿って長い polykinetids (peniculus ) からなる３本の oral polykinetidsがあるのが特徴。アルベオラ（alveoli）は、kinetosomal rowsの間に並ぶ。右側のparoral dikinetidsはあまり発達していない。 cyrtosはない。毛胞（trichocysts）あり。
亜目：oral polykinetidsは細胞口の左側にある。右側の paroral kinetid は細胞口と oral cavityに平行に長くのびる。
科：Oral cavityは大きくない。 oral nematodesmataは細胞口をリング状には取り囲まない。３本の polykinetidsが oral cavity内にある。
属：細胞のくびれはない。口部域の前方と後方に縫合線があり，oral cavityと口部につらなる。口部域の後方から始まる kinetiesがあり，それらは縫合線の左側に位置する。
細胞は卵形ないし楕円形。前端部は後端部よりも広めで丸みがある。扁平。細胞口の構造は複雑。口部の溝はナイフ形で左端が右よりも大きく湾曲する。口部後方の溝は長く狭い。細胞咽頭にはたくさんの繊維構造がみられる。細胞表層にはたくさんの紡錘形をしたトリコシストがある。大核は卵形。小核は1個ないし数個。収縮胞は1個ないし2個。淡水性（from Kudo, 1966）。
種：細胞長150-600μｍ。藻類を主に食べるが，有殻アメーバ（アルケラ）や大形のアメーバなども餌にする。淡水性。
