綱：繊毛は細胞表面に一様にある。 細胞口は細胞前半部の腹側にある。
細胞は腎臓形のものが多い。また、よじれている場合もあり、そのために分裂時の形態形成が複雑になっている。
シストを形成し、増殖シストの中で細胞分裂をする。多くの種が自由生活をする。シスト形成をするため、土壌中に 発見される例も多い。

目：口部に等長のpolykinetidsがない。1つ以上のpolykinetidsが口部の左側にある。 口部の右側は only 1 paroral of ciliated dikinetids。 小核は大核の核膜に包まれている。

科：粘液質の鞘の中にいる。right paroral kinetidは短く２つに別れる。left oral polykinetidsは３〜４。
属：細胞は卵形で粘液質の鞘ないしロリカの中にいる。vestibulumは大きい（細胞長の1/3）が幅は狭い。 vestibulumの右側に長く湾曲した繊毛がある。大核は１個。収縮胞は後端部の近くにある。
