Transparent; ovoid; collar indistinct; in lorica (How to know the protozoa, 1979). Solitary or colonial; with firm lorica (theca) as a cup or tube; protoplast with 1 anterior flagellum encircled laterally by well-developed collar; contractile vacuoles posterior in fresh water species (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
