Allogromiina亜目

海産で、直径は最小20μmから最大数 cm のものまでいる。孔の散在している殻 （外皮）をもつ。 外皮は炭酸カルシウムを含むことが多いが、砂粒を含むものもいる。
砂の中や石、藻類などに付着して生活するものも多いが、自由に泳ぐものもいる。後者には グロビゲリナ (Glllobigerinidae) やグロボトタリア (Globototalidae) など海の物質循環に重要な 役割を果たしているものもいる。
