目：細胞の周囲に殻や厚膜をつくる。明瞭な開口がある。有殻アメーバの一部。
亜目：殻に鱗片（scale）はないが，顆粒や棘，ゴミなどが付着している。
科：殻（Test）は卵形に近い。

属：殻は柔軟。押し潰された形。biconvex in cross-section
pseudostomeは卵形。通常，顆粒は付着していない。
