亜綱：繊毛が集まった棘毛（cirri）が細胞表面全体にある。上下に押しつぶされた形をしている。 口部繊毛の左側は、polykinetidsによる collar ないしは lapel を形成する。各々は kinetosomeが 2 or 2.5 列 配列する。口部の右側の繊毛の形態は様々で１〜数個の paroral kinetiesからなる。
亜目：腹側前方の棘毛は1本ないし多数の短い fileを形成する。
各fileの長さはバラバラで，まっすぐ（ジグザグ状ではない）。
migratory cirriはない。

科： 2 marigial & 1 frontventral cirral files。filesはまっすぐか，斜め。腹側のみ。 前方棘毛（frontal cirri）は少なく，腹側前方の縁に沿って曲がらない。 cirral filesは細長い口部域の長軸に沿ってまっすぐに並ぶ。

属： 棘毛列は後端部までは達しない。 Oxytrichaに似ているが， 前部棘毛列は3，腹部棘毛列は2，後部棘毛は4本，longer adoral zone (How to know the protozoa, 1979).
