綱：細胞口は前端部、ないしその近傍にある。細胞体の周囲にbrosse of kinetidsがある。 突出体として、extraoral toxicystsをもつ。
亜綱：自由遊泳種 (?)。 細胞口は前端部にある。口部域には brosse kinetidsも toxicystsもない。 body kinetiesは bipolar。
目：細胞口は先端部にある。細胞口の繊毛に特殊化はみられない。

科：繊毛は均一。 キチン質様物質からなるロリカをもつものがいる。固着性。 body kinetiesはすべて bipoloar。paratenes (?)は明瞭。顕著な尾部繊毛（caudal cilia）をもつものがいる。

属：細胞はシリンダー状。先端部はややくびれている。body monokinetids。 細胞先端にある細胞口の周囲に繊毛がリング状に配列する。 細胞の周囲もリング状の構造によって囲まれている。 通常，尾部繊毛が１本。後端部には大きな液胞がある。 バシコラ（Vasicola）に似るがロリカはない。

M. elongata	Cylindrical; 60-80 μｍ long; a single long caudal cilium; lorica not known (Carey, 1992).
M. recurva	Vermiform or cylindrical, with posterior expanded; up to 68 μｍ long; body annulated, curved; a rigid, slender and colourless lorica; large posterior vacuole with a single caudal cilium; spherical macronucleus central; contractile posterior (Carey, 1992).
M. tesselata	*****
M. truncata	Elongate; with about twelve furrow rings; up to 30 μｍ long (Kudo, 1966).
