亜目：細胞は扁平で，oblong, ovate, or flagellate，形態は安定していて，細胞表面にしわ状の隆起がみられる。 rolling movement of surface。核分裂の様式は種により様々。

科：細胞は小さい（＜50μｍ）。移動時は卵形ないし扇形。しわはないか，ないし，わずか。

属：移動時は卵形。移動方向の長さは横幅より短い。
先端部にある透明域は波状で重なってみえる。
