綱：葉状仮足をつくる。軸糸はない。
亜綱：殻をつくらない。狭義のアメーバ類。
目： 多くは単核。ミトコンドリアがある。 鞭毛をもたない。核分裂は mesomitotic。有性生殖は知られていない。

亜目： 細胞は扁平で，oblong, ovate, or flagellate，形態は安定していて，細胞表面にしわ状の隆起がみられる。 rolling movement of surface。核分裂の様式は種により様々。 from 「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」

属： 細胞は大きい（＞100μｍ）。移動時は三角ないし長円形。単核ないし多核。背面にはしわがある。 from 「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」

T. striata (注) 細胞の長さは30-80μｍ(Page, 1976)。 T. quadrilineata (注) 細胞の長さは35-80μｍ(Page, 1976)。 T. corrugata (注) 細胞の長さは30-40μｍ(Page, 1976)。 T. vesiculata 細胞の長さは〜200μｍ(Page, 1976)。 T. granifera (注) 細胞の長さは45-85μｍ(Page, 1976)。 T. proteoides 細胞の長さは60-280μｍ(Page, 1976)。 T. terricola 細胞の長さは60-200μｍ(Page, 1976)。 T. similis (注) 細胞の長さは30-80μｍ(Page, 1976)。 T. sphaeronucleolus 細胞の長さは80-130μｍ(Page, 1976)。 T. verrucosa 細胞の長さはsphaeronucleolusと同じかやや大きい（80-130μｍ〜？）(Page, 1976)。 細胞長 100-175 μm, 前端部の幅 60-80 μm; 前方に向かって大きく広がる (cornucopia-shaped); ウロイドは桑の実状; 外質は厚みがあり周縁と背中にしわができる, 核は球形〜楕円形で径 12 μm, endosome と companion body がある; 収縮胞は後方にある (Illustrated Guide, 1985).

注： Page (1976) がThecamoebaとしたもののいくつかはAn Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa (1985) の定義（＞100μｍ）からはずれる。
