Striamoeba 綱：葉状仮足をつくる。軸糸はない。
亜綱：殻をつくらない。狭義のアメーバ類。
目： 多くは単核。ミトコンドリアがある。 鞭毛をもたない。核分裂は mesomitotic。有性生殖は知られていない。

亜目： 細胞は扁平で，oblong, ovate, or flagellate，形態は安定していて，細胞表面にしわ状の隆起がみられる。 rolling movement of surface。核分裂の様式は種により様々。 from 「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」

属： 細胞は小さい（＜100μｍ）。移動時は楕円形。しわは平行に走る。 from 「An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa」

S. corrugata 細胞長 35-80 μm; しわ (ridges; 稜線) は通常 6本; 細胞の両端がやや狭まる; 核には変形しやすい endosome がある (How to know the protozoa, 1979).
S. munda 移動時の細胞長 40-50 μm, 幅 30-40 μm; 仮足はない; ウロイドもない; 外質は淡い色で背中に3-4のしわ (ridges, 稜線)がある; 内質には細かな粒子がある; 核は球形で径 10 μm, endosome はリング状で２つの極冠ではさまれている; 収縮胞はない ? (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
S. similis 細胞長 30-80 μm; 幅広いた卵形, 背中のしわも少ない; 核内には endosomal granules が核膜下に分散している (How to know the protozoa, 1979).
S. striata 細胞長 30-50 μm, 幅 20-30 μm, 仮足はまれ; ウロイドはない; 外質は淡い色; 背中のしわは3-5 で, 先端部と側方が透明; 内質には細かな顆粒がある, 核は球形で径 5-6 μm, endosome は帯状か 2-3 の断片; 収縮胞の径 8-12 μm (Illustrated Guide, 1985). 細胞体は卵形; 細胞長 30-80 μm; 背中のしわは3-4; 核には2ないし3個のリボン状の endosomeがある (How to know the protozoa, 1979).
S. quadrilineata 細胞長 35-38 μm; 細胞体は楕円形で背中に2-5（通常は4）本のしわ（ridges) ができる; 核にはendosome が１個ある(How to know the protozoa, 1979).
