綱：糸状の仮足をもつ。有軸仮足は形成しない。
目：細胞の周囲に殻や厚膜をつくる。明瞭な開口がある。有殻アメーバの一部。
亜目：殻は珪質の鱗片（scale）によって被われている。
科：鱗片（scale）は丸か elliptical。隣接し，薄く重なっている。

属：殻はおおよそ卵形。断面は丸ないし卵形。pseudostomeは末端部にある。
その周囲にある鱗片には歯状突起はない。殻を被う鱗片は重なっている。
pseudostomeには透明な crenulate rimがある。

T. dentata	長さ 25-60 μm， 径 15-40 μm， 殻は透明で楕円形，断面は円形。鱗片は丸い。棘はない。 pseudostomeは径が8-12 μm， 短い歯状の突起をもつ襟部をもつ (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
T. acolla	長さ 32-42 μm， 径 17-21 μm， 殻は透明で楕円形，断面は円形。鱗片は丸い。棘はない。 pseudostomeは径が6.5-8 μm， だが，歯状襟部がない (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
