綱：糸状の仮足をもつ。 有軸仮足は形成しない。
目：細胞の周囲に殻や厚膜をつくる。明瞭な開口がある。有殻アメーバの一部。
亜目：殻は珪質の鱗片（scale）によって被われている。
科：鱗片（scale）は丸か elliptical。隣接し，薄く重なっている。

属：殻はやや押し潰された状態。pseudostome は楕円形で襟部をもつ。

S. lenta

殻は透明で楕円形。長さ30-60 μm， 径 20-50 μm， 襟部は高さが 8-10 μm。 鱗片は楕円形でたがいに重なり合う。 pseudostome は卵形で幅10-22 μm。 核は球形で径 20-25 μm， endosome 4-5 μm (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
