綱：糸状の仮足をもつ。有軸仮足は形成しない。
目：細胞の周囲に殻や厚膜をつくる。明瞭な開口がある。有殻アメーバの一部。
亜目：殻に鱗片（scale）はないが，顆粒や棘，ゴミなどが付着している。
科：殻（Test）は卵形に近い。

属：殻は柔軟。薄い膜状で，その外側に硬いカップ状（ないし傘状）の外殻がある。
