綱：規則的に配列した放射状の棘があり，それらは細胞の中心部で結合する。 棘は硫酸ストロンチウム（strontium sulfate）でできている。
細胞は薄いカプセル状の膜で包まれている（ものがある？）。

目：中心を通る棘針が10本ある。単純に交差するのみ。

Acanthociasmatidae科	単純に交差する棘針。ectoplasmic cortexはない。myonemesもない。

Acanthoplegmatidae科	中心部に pseudo-bodyがある。ectoplasmic cortexと，myonemesがある。
