Species: Cell body fusiform or subcylindrical, slightly metabolic, 31-46 μm long, 9-15 μm wide, L/W=4-6; anterior end trancate or rounded, not much narrower than the widest central region, posterior end tapered into a short caudal prolongation; stigma small; chloroplasts disc-shaped, small and numerous, 2-3 μm in diam., pyrenoid absent; nucleus at the center of the cell body, spherical, 7-9 μm in diam. or ellipsoidal, 6-10 x 4.5-8 μm; discoid paramylon grains immediately beneath the periplast with their whole outer flat surface (Chu, 1946).
