Species: 85-170 μm long, 10-20 μm wide; highly plastic; stigma distinct; chloroplasts discoid with pyrenoid; several small rod-shaped paramylon (paramylum) bodies (Kudo, 1966). Body flattened, twisted, with longitudinal chloroplasts; flagellum less than 1/4 body length (How to know the protozoa, 1979).
Cell body cylindrical, 90-165 μm long, 9-18μm wide, posterior slightly pointed; chloroplast large disc-shaped, parietal, 30-50 in number, a pyrenoid without paramylon sheath located at the center; a flagellum 1/3 to 1/2 of the body length; nucleus ellipsoidal 14-20 x 8-12 μm; stigma 5-7 μm; paramylon bodies ellipsoidal or rod-shaped (An Illustrated Guide to Freshwater Zooplankton in Japan, 2000).
