Vitreochlamys Species: Cell body (cellwall) broad ellipsoidal or inverted ovoid, young cell ellipsoidal, 21-35 μm long, 18-32 μm wide; cellwall distinct, consisting of several layers; protoplast ovoid or spindle-shaped, or somewhat irregular; flagella about cell-body length, emerging through distinct tubular structure; chloroplast cup-shaped; a pyrenoid spherical, located at posterior half of the cells; stigma small, at anterior 1/3 of the cell; nucleus within the concave of chloroplast; two contractile vacuoles apical (Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa 9, Chlorophyta I, 1983).
