Genus: Colony of many cells within a spherical or iregular-shaped gelatinous matrix; fragments of mother cell wall surrounding an aggregate of daughter cells; several pseudo-flagella emerging from cell body; a single chloroplast cup-shaped, with a pyrenoid (Guide book to the "Photomicrographs of the Freshwater Algae", 1998).
