Klebsormidium Family: Chloroplasts plate-like or ribbon-like; sexual reproduction by isogamy.
Genus: Without gelatinous sheath; filaments consist of many cells; no rhizoid (Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977).

Species: cell body cylindrical or somewhat laterally swelled, 6-12 μm long, 8-12 μm wide; a single chloroplast plate-like, parietal covering half of the cell wall, with a pyrenoid (Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977).

Klebsormidium klebsii (G. M. Smith) S. Mattox et Blackwell: Similar to K. flaccidum, but cell body longer; 18-25 μm long, 6-8 μm diam., a single chloroplast with a pyrenoid (Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977).
