Discamoeba guttula
(Dujardin, 1835, emend Penard, 1902)

Discamoeba Family: Small, less than 50 μm; oblong to ovate; ridges faint or absent.
Genus: Body ovate in locomotion; longer than broad; with more or less thick clear zone around granular mass; uninucleate (Illustrated Guide, 1985).

Species: Ovoid, no or few, faint dorsal ridges; thick, clear ectoplasm; vesicular nucleus (How to know the protozoa, 1979). Locomotive, 25-35 μm long, 15-30 μm wide, pseudopod none, uroid none, ectoplasm smooth, nucleus spherical, 5-6 μm, contractile vacuole 6-8 μm (Illustrated Guide, 1985). Clear ectoplasm anterior half of cell body.
