Hartmannella Family: Body monopodial; pseudopods rare; locomotion by slight forward bulging; cysts common (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
Genus: Body 6-9 times longer than broad; hyaline cap 1-2 times as long as broad (How to know the ptozoa, 1979). Hyaline cap usually present in locomotion; cysts uninucleate (Illustrated Guide, 1985).

Hartmannella vermiformis Page, 1967: Locomotive, clavate, 12-30 μm long; L : W = 6 : 1; pseudopods rarely formed; uroid rare, temporary; ectoplasm clear, anterior; endoplasm granular; nucleus spherical, 2-4 μm; endosome 0.7-2 μm (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
