Chromulina Genus: Body spherical or oval; one or two yellowish-brown chloroplasts (How to know the protozoa, 1779). Flagellate often becoming amoeboid or palmelloid; a single external flagellum emerging apically; second very short flagellum in a pocket detected when examined by electron microscopy; 1 or 2 chloroplasts; eyespot present in some species; cysts smooth or ornamented; many species with peripheral muciferous bodies; discobolocysts (a kind of extrusome) in some species; freshwater or marine (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
