Characiopsis Genus: Unicellular, attached on a substrate at one end of the cell; cell body slightly curved, ovoidal or cylidrical in shape; 1 or two chloroplasts plate-like, without pyrenoids (Guide book to the "Photomicrographs of the Freshwater Algae", 1998).
Species: Cell body 20-45 μm long, 7-11 μm wide (Ettl, Xanthophyceae 1. Teil, Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa 3, 1978).
