* Platycola truncata Fromentel, 1874: Cell body cylindroid, 60-170 μm long, 15-20 μm wide; pellicle smooth; peristome 20-25 μm wide; cytopharynx 1/4 to 1/5 the body length; peristomal disc expands forward with a slope; a contractile vacuole near the end of the cytopharynx; a macronucleus band-like with a single micronucleus; lorica clear, yellow to brown, with short collar, attached to substrate for most of its length; usually two cells in a lorica (Gensei-Doubutu Zukan, 1981).

Platycola longicollis (De Fromentel): 125 μm long; lorica clear, yellow to brown, attached to substrate for most of its length (How to know the protozoa, 1979).
