Ophryoglena Suborder: With organelle of Lieberkühn (watch-glass organelle).
Family & Genus: Oral apparatus of trophont complex with rear of polykinetid 2 enlarged; histophagous on dying or dead invertebrates (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
Genus: Cytostome anterior ventral and spirals down into the body; watch-glass body with a pigment spot on the left of the cytostome (Carey, 1992).

Species: Cell body pyriform, elongate, 250-500 μm long; oral area small; the pigment spot not conspicuous; macronucleus ellipsoidal; two contractile vacuoles; many trichocysts (Carey, 1992).
