Ophryoglena Suborder: With organelle of Lieberkühn (watch-glass organelle).
Family & Genus: Oral apparatus of trophont complex with rear of polykinetid 2 enlarged; histophagous on dying or dead invertebrates (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
Genus: Cytostome anterior ventral and spirals down into the body; watch-glass body with a pigment spot on the left of the cytostome (Carey, 1992).

Species: Cell body elongate, elliopsoidal, 80-300 μm long; macronucleus ellipsoidal (Carey, 1992).

Ophryoglena marina, cell body 200 μm long, 50 μm wide, anterior end slightly attenuated and curved, posterior end rounded, one large macronucleus sausage-shaped ?, a contractile vacuole at mid-dorsal, a depression of pellicle on it, swims very fast, x 200, x 400, Japan, 1998 by Y. Tsukii
