Loxophyllum Genus: Ventral side with a hyaline border, reaching posterior end and bearing trichocysts; dorsal side with either similar trichocyst-border or with trichocyst-warts (Kudo, 1966).

L. elegans Wenzel, 1961: Elongate, 120-150 μm long; domed with longitudinal ridges on the upper surface; a band containing trichocysts along the ventral edge; two macronuclei; a single contractile vacuole posterior (Carey, 1992).
