Species: Cell body spherical, 15-25 μm in diam.; cell wall warty (covered with many short conical projections); 2-3 chloroplasts without pyrenoids; subaerial or planktonic (Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977).
15-20 μm in diam.; 2-3 plate-like chloroplasts present, without pyrenoids; cell wall covered with many short conical projections (or warts) (Introduction to the Freshwater Algae, 1999).
