Pteromonas Species: Cell body (cellwall) cylindrical, both ends rounded, anterior end slightly domed, 15-38 μm long, 8-20 μm wide; cellwall thin; papilla absent; protoplast ovoid or ellipsoidal or spindle-shaped; length of flagella the same as that of cell body; chloroplast cup-shaped; a single pyrenoid spherical, at posterior half of the cell; stigma elliptical, anterior; nucleus anterior; two contractile vacuoles apical (Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa 9, Chlorophyta I, 1983).
