Pyrobotrys Species: Colony of 8 or 16 cells, layered by 4-celled "chaplet", up to 45 (-58) μm long; cell body ovoid or pear-shaped, slightly asymmetrical, posteriorly narrowed, but not drown out, 10-25 μm long; cellwall thin; flagella 1.5 times longer than the cell body; chloroplast cup-shaped; stigma located around the backward-inclined area of the cell (Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa 9, Chlorophyta I, 1983).
