Pteromonas Genus: Unicellular; two equal-length flagella emerging from anterior end; cell body flat, broad ovoidal, lateral view spindle-shaped, within a gelatinous sheath quadrangular in shape; a single chloroplast plate-like, with 4-6 pyrenoids (Guide book to the "Photomicrographs of the Freshwater Algae", 1998).
